Objective
MBS Simulated Business Management Competition 2024 aims to provide you with a valuable learning experience that combines theoretical knowledge with practical application in a business context.

​

Through this simulation, you will have the opportunity to apply the concepts and skills you have acquired during your business management studies. It will challenge you to make strategic decisions, analyze their consequences, and develop critical thinking and decision-making abilities.

​

By participating in this simulation, you will gain hands-on experience in managing a business, learning from your mistakes, and experimenting with different strategies. The competitive element will inspire you to strive for excellence and develop resilience and adaptability in the face of realistic business challenges.

​

Throughout the simulation, you are encouraged to reflect on your decisions, analyze outcomes, and engage in self-assessment. This will facilitate continuous learning and develop your ability to evaluate business performance effectively.

Students participating in this competition are invited to join the virtual entrepreneurship competition, 'We innovate together in metaverse,' organized by the HKU SAAS Data Science Lab at the University of Hong Kong and the top 3 winning teams can be shortlisted to International MBS Business Management Simulation Competition 2024 at Kasetsart University in Bangkok on 6 Sep 2024

Competition Format

• This competition is carried out in the form of business simulation with teams consisting of 3-4 students from the same university.

• Tronclass learning management platform will be provided to teams after the registration for self learning before the workshops.

• Participating teams are tasked with competing against other virtual companies that are being operated by different teams on-site.

• Spots in The University of Hong Kong are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis.

• If no participating team from The University of Hong Kong is shortlisted to the Grand Final, the team with the highest score from The University of Hong Kong will then be shortlisted to Grand Final.

• The overall objective of the simulated business management competition is to achieve the highest score throughout 5 rounds of the game on a ‘balanced scorecard’ and the scoring results of presentation by the finalist.

• The balanced scorecard contains key element which measures the total score for your company’s performance. The major KPI to evaluate each company’s performance including the Net Present Value (NPV),  profit margin, current ratio, or return on equity ratio (ROE), etc. will be described before the competition. (60% of the Total Score)

• In the second part of the competition, the top 2 winning teams from each of the groups are required to prepare a presentation deck onsite to illustrate their business strategy and decision.

• The presentation will be interviewed by the honorable judges and the score will be given based on the following
  criteria concerning the presentations: (40% of the Total Score)

  • Evaluation of Feasible Alternatives and Solutions

  • Implementation of Action Plan

  • Question and Answer

  • Presentation Form

Prize
Champion: HKD 6.000 / Trophy / Medals
First runner-up: HKD 4,000 / Trophy / Medals
Second runner-up: HKD 2,000 / Trophy / Medals

All participating teams will have printed certificates.
