National Glory – Exhibition on the Spirit of the Chinese Women’s Volleyball Team

The Education University of Hong Kong is delighted to jointly host the “National Glory – Exhibition on the Spirit of the Chinese Women’s Volleyball Team” with Tianjin University of Sport.  The exhibition showcases the Team’s glorious history and relentless spirit over their four decades of capturing ten world championship titles.  We would also like to take this opportunity to extend our sincere thanks to Tianjin University of Sport for providing the content of this exhibition and lending precious artifacts, including trophies, medals, match uniforms, and shoes worn by champion players. In view of the overwhelming response, the exhibition has been extended to 15 July 2024 to allow more public to visit the exhibition.

Opening Ceremony

The Opening Ceremony of this exhibition has taken place at Central Plaza at 2pm on 17 June 2024.

Officiating at the ceremony were EdUHK Deputy Council Chairman Professor Terence Chan Ho-wah and President Professor John Lee Chi-Kin; Director of Sports at the Publicity, Culture, and Sports Department of the Liaison Office Mr Zhu Jianping; Assistant District Officer (Tai Po) Miss Phoebe Yu Wing-lam; TJUS Secretary of Party Committee Mr Zhang Lishun; Executive Vice President of the Volleyball Academy of China Ms Zhang Na; former Chinese Women’s Volleyball Team members Ms Li Juan and Ms Wei Qiuyue; and the EdUHK National Athlete Ambassador, Ms Yao Di.

Volleyball Friendly Matches

Tianjin Women’s Volleyball Team (which has won the national volleyball league championship 16 times to date and has provided a large number of players to the Chinese women’s volleyball team) also played an exhibition match against the Hong Kong women’s team, the EdUHK women’s team and the winners of the Hong Kong Schools Jing Ying girls’ volleyball tournament on 17 Jun 2024. The exhibition match received an overwhelming response, with nearly 400 EdUHK students, staff, alumni and public members participating.

Guided Tours

We have specially arranged guided tours of the exhibition for primary and secondary schools. Interested schools should complete the online registration form at https://eduhk.au1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_0OOFLDgs0tDz42y by 5 July (Fri). Guided tours will be available in Cantonese and Mandarin, with a capacity of 40 participants per session on a first-come, first-served basis.
